CAREER

Born in Paris to a fine wine family and breeders of thoroughbred horses at Haras d’Etreham, in Normandy. Gilles de Chambure was exposed to wine at any early age by his family who owned Grand Cru Clos des Lambrays in Burgundy and by his uncle who sat on the board of a First Growth Chateau in Bordeaux.

Graduating from Stowe School in Buckingham, England, Gilles attended Vanderbilt University and traveled to Guatemala on an archeological mission to preserve Mayan ruins. There, he became interested in the coffee business and coffee trading, which led to Wall Street to work with Lazard Freres and Morgan Stanley.

Leaving Wall Street behind, Gilles traveled to Uruguay to visit his sister, a partner in a restaurant with chef Francis Mallmann where he created the restaurant’s wine list and his career in wine began. Following a period as a negociant, Gilles played a role in the development of Argentina’s first appellation, Luján de Cuyo DO, and became an ambassador for the Argentinian wine industry.

During this time, Gilles caught the attention of Robert Mondavi who convinced him to move to Napa Valley and help promote the company Robert would soon take public in 1993. At Mondavi, he became the world’s 100th Master Sommelier and was inducted into the order of Hospitalier de Pomerol by consulting winemaker Michel Rolland. Gilles went on to work with Bill Harlan at Meadowood and The Napa Valley Reserve as Director of Wine Education and then opened a private consulting practice serving select wine appellations and wineries throughout the world. He joined Mr. Bulgheroni as President of Alejandro Bulgheroni Estate and Ambassador for Mr. Bulgheroni’s global brands, including Bodega Garzón in Uruguay, Vistalba (which is owned in partnership with Carlos Pulenta) in Mendoza, Dievole in Chianti Classico, and Podere Brizio in Brunello di Montalcino.

After successfully launching Mr Bulgheroni namesake winery in Napa valley Gilles is now Consulting around the world on various aspects of the Wine industry.

Managed and Launched the creation of a boutique wine estate in Napa Valley, Hired and Recruited winemaking team – Philippe Melka, and consultant master blender Michel Rolland, hired viticulturalist Jim Barbour -converted our Estate vineyard to Certified Organic . Worked closely with Designers Susan Pate and Michael Vanderbyl on creating the label design and packaging. Hired Cognoscente Fine Wine Marketing to develop the branding , marketing and webb site. Engaged Photographer and video producer Eric Wolfinger. Oversaw winery cellar and wine tasting salon renovation.Successfully applied to county and developed a road to top of property for water tanks and vineyard development. Managed small team of winemaker, cellar master and estate director for harvest 2015 and 2016.First vintage 2014 I oversaw at custom crush winery Vineyard 29.
Contracted premium vineyard sourcing, including To Kalon, Oakville ranch, Pritchard hill , las Piedras and Dr Crane. Active member of the Napa valley Vitners , Grape Growers ,Oakville growers. Our 2015 Auction Napa lot raised $600k for the Community. First release Cabernet Sauvignon 96pt RP.

Private Winery and Wine estate in St Helena Napa Valley, established to enhance and promote the Culture of Wine at the highest level to the members. I organized in-depth tasting on the great wines of the world, inviting key opinion leaders in the Wine industry, planned and guided International Wine tours to expose collectors to the classic wine regions. Developing programs and collaborating closely with the two owners and their Wine luxury Brands, Harlan estate and Screaming Eagle.

I created an Ambassador program with our new Shareholders when Robert Mondavi Winery went public, Organized International wine tours for our shareholders. Worked closely on the Communication of all the new International Joint Ventures( after Opus One) in Italy, Australia, Chile and France at a time of rapid expansion to animate our international sales force.
